The thatched houses that pepper Church Road give us a reminder of what Old Town would have looked like many years ago. Whilst most houses have replaced the thatch with Welsh slate, which is common across the town, there are a few remaining houses which remind us what old Brackley would have looked like – thatched cottages, a village green and a dominant embattled tower. Some of the original 18th and 19th century windows remain.
