Brackley and District Band
The Brackley & District Band was formed in the mid 1970s when a group of young musicians finished their time at school but still wanted to enjoy playing in a Brass Band. Soon after this our Junior Band was formed. This development group still continues albeit now as the ‘Majors and Minors’. For over 30 years the Band has been based at the Band Club in Draymans Walk in the centre of Brackley. Some players still remain from the early days. The Band has contested at all levels over the years, competing against some of the top Bands in the country. Whatever your standard, there will be a seat for you in one of our Bands. Unfortunately however, we are unable to accommodate complete beginners but can point you in the direction of some good tutors to help you start your journey.
During a typical year we play at a range of events including birthdays, weddings, fetes, civic events, beer festivals and all sorts of others too. We perform either as a full band or sometimes as a smaller 7 or 10 piece ensemble. Our repertoire is broad, including music from stage and screen, marches, classical works arranged for Brass Band, original Brass Band works and we are currently also working with a composer to create some completely new pieces.
Whether you have just moved into the area, looking to get back into playing again or just fancy a change then we are always on the lookout for talented brass and percussion players. We rehearse at the Band Club on Fridays starting at 7.30pm and people usually stick around after for a drink and a chat in the bar.
We have instruments available for players to borrow. We want to make the enjoyment of playing together in a Brass Band an opportunity that is available to everyone so please do get in touch. Contact Floss Tustain for more information.
